How To Set the Stage To Achieve Your Goals by Jennifer Grace

OK- so I have a confession…

By nature, I’m not the most organized person.  There are many things I am good at, but organization is simply not one of them.

This human nature trait of mine I used to fall back on as my “excuse” for the constant clutter in my life.  “I’m a creative” I would wine.

That only got me so far.

The thing is…if you want to build an empire, or simply launch a small dream, your foundation cannot have any cracks in it.
Clutter is a form of self -sabotage and procrastination, and frankly it keeps you and me from creating stuff that matters.
A clear space equals a clear mind.

Bringing your message to the world has to first start at home.

Creating organization and order, not only in your designated work place, but through out the rest of your home, including your closet, your car, and yes…your computer, that pesky desk top is also going to need a good once over.

A dirty cluttered home makes you feel tired and it makes you feel hopeless, not a winning combination for creativity.
Here’s the deal…mess creates stress, and in order for our brilliance to arrive we need a calm, clear canvas for it to make its appearance.

Here is what I suggest you tackle before you dive into reaching your creative goal.  Set aside a few hours this week to:

  1. Clean up your inbox. Discard any emails that are not necessary, make folders for one’s you need to follow up on, and for crying out loud, answer your cousin’s email, he wrote you over a month ago
  2. Clear off your desk: file any papers necessary, don’t just move piles of papers from your desk onto the dining room table, that’s cheating. Take down old post it notes, give it a good wipe down, and perhaps get a new candle or fresh flowers to liven it up a bit.
  3. Closet, if you haven’t worn it in a year, donate it. Better yet find a friend with the same size as you and do a clothes swap, you will have a whole new wardrobe in no time.
  4. The car. Clean out the 37 water bottles hanging out in the backseat, the crap still in the trunk from your camping trip last summer, and all of the napkins you shoved into your glove box. And then give it a nice wash. Your car will thank you.

Once you do this you will feel an incredible shift in energy, as you clear out the clutter you will be energetically clearing the space for new creativity to be called in.

Not only will it give you a sense of accomplishment, it will also make you feel calmer and more focused.

Which is exactly how you need to feel in order to start tackling your goals.
